Beechwood defeats Lexington Christian 38-35
The Beechwood Tigers won the 2007 CLASS 1A State Football Championship making it their 10th State Title. Beechwood led 21-14 at halftime but let the lead slip away in the 3rd quarter and was down 28-21. Beechwood then scored 17 unanswered points and held off LCA late in the game. Ryan Amelung really sparked the Tigers today with a 99-yard kickoff return TD and a punt return TD.
Highlands defeats Bowling Green 28-7
The Highlands Bluebirds won the 2007 CLASS 5A State Football Championship making it their 17th State Title. Highlands led 21-0 at halftime ending the half with a Cecil to O'Bryan hail-mary TD pass. Highlands finished the season with a perfect 15-0 record.
NewCath loses to Fort Campbell 21-7
The Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds lost the 2007 CLASS 2A State Football Championship. The Breds were looking to make it three straight championships. The game was tied 7-7 at halftime and Fort Campbell took a 14-7 lead early in the 4th quarter. NewCath had some opportunities to score but several penalties hampered the Breds. Fort Campbell finished the scoring with a 67-yard TD run to finish out their scoring with about 3 minutes left in the game.
