The Northern Kentucky High School football season started out with HOT temperatures and so did the Highlands Bluebirds in the first half of their opening game vs Ryle. Highlands jumped out to a 28-0 halftime lead and never looked back defeating the Raiders 49-21. And Highlands' hottest player was Josh Conner who ran for 227 yard and 5 touchdowns.
Then the next day, Cody Elliott and the Beechwood Tigers got HOT, but not until the 4th Quarter. Trailing 17-7 in the final quarter, Elliott had runs of 53 and 19 yards respectively, bringing the Tigers back to defeat Dixie 21-17.
This past HOT weekend also provided a few mild surprises with Dayton defeating Holmes 21-19 and Bellevue beating Newport 13-7. NewCath had an easy time with Simon Kenton 43-6.
