Northern Kentucky basketball was well represented during the Kentucky ALL 'A' Finals for both the girls and boys teams as the girls of Newport Central Catholic and the boys of Bishop Brossart both made it to the Finals of the state tournament.
In the girls tournament, the Thoroughbred's path to the Finals was led by great defense with wins over Harlan, Bardstown and Paris. But, then the 'Breds ran into an offensive powerhouse, Lexington Christian, along with just 31 percent shooting from the field. Lexington Christian won 83-57 for the title. NewCath junior center Whitney Cundiff led the Thoroughbreds with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

For the boys tournament, Brossart's path was a lot tougher with wins over NewCath, Gallatin County (45-44), and University Heights. Then they had to face Bardstown in the Finals and won 56-48. Bryan Niemeyer led the Mustangs in final game with 22 points and 9 rebounds. Jimmy Uebel was named Tournament MVP, while Josh Kidney and Troy Cooper were named to the All Tournament team.
