Over the past couple of weeks the boys and girls High School basketball teams of Northern Kentucky have been participating in local and out-of-town tournaments. One of the boys tournaments currently going on is the Fifth Third Invitational being played in Lexington, KY. Both Covington Catholic and Bishop Brossart have made good runs in the tournament but both lost last night and will face each other this afternoon (Friday, Dec 29).
In the girls Northern Exposure Tournament played at Boone County, Boone County defeated Notre Dame Academy 66-63 in overtime to win the tournament. And last night Notre Dame Academy lost a heart breaker 43-42 to Bishop Kenny in the St. Pius X Christmas Classic played in Atlanta, GA.
Teams playing well right now for the boys basketball teams are Simon Kenton (10-1), Brossart (9-1), Boone County (9-2), and Holmes (9-3).
The girls teams playing well include Notre Dame Academy (9-2), Villa Madonna (9-1), Ludlow (8-1), Conner (7-2), Simon Kenton (7-2), and Boone County (8-3).
NKY.com will be broadcasting the girls Highlands vs. NewCath game on Friday and the boys Villa Madonna vs. Newport game on Saturday this weekend. BROADCASTS
