NKY Round 2 Football Playoffs Preview
11/13/2015 - by NKS Editor
Class 1A
Beechwood (10-1) crushed Eminence 62-0 last week and will have no problems with Frankfort at home this week. The Tigers are the only NKY school left in 1A as Bellevue, Brossart, Dayton and Ludlow all lost last week. Look for Beechwood to win State this year!

Class 2A
Lloyd (8-3) beat Walton-Verona (6-5) 28-20 in the first game of the season and the Juggernauts have kept improving all season. The door is wide open for all these teams to advance to the Regional Finals next week.

Class 4A
Scott (9-2) defeated Rowan County last week 33-26 and will play Ashland Blazer (9-2) who beat Bourbon County last week 42-21. This will be a good test for the Eagles but playing at home will help.

Class 5A
Both Highlands (6-5) and CovCath (4-7) had easy wins last week while Dixie had an impressive close win over Montgomery County 21-17. A highly anticipated game between the Birds and Colonels lurks for next week, but Dixie (3-8) has improved since they last played Highlands, and CovCath has to play at Madison Southern (5-5).

Class 6A
Simon Kenton (11-0) had no problems with Butler last week and Ryle (9-2) took care of Boone County handily. Now these two teams face each other again, but does Ryle have enough to overcome the Pioneers. The Pioneers won earlier this year 28-7 and haven't lost all season. Many have picked Simon Kenton to make it to the Championship game this year.

Another rematch game in Class 6A is Conner (8-3) at Cooper (9-2). Last week, Conner just got by Campbell County 14-12 while Cooper defeated Seneca easily 40-0. These two neighboring schools played just 3 weeks ago in bad weather and the Jaguars held on to win 15-13. Should be another great game!
