| NewCath golfer to sign with Marian University |

Colin Dupont has been awarded an academic and athletic scholarship to play golf for Marian University in Indianapolis. The team is coached by John Shelton who has coached at Marian for 21 years. Marian is a Catholic liberal arts school and competes at NAIA level. The Marian golf team is currently ranked 25th nationally and won many conference championships. The team is losing 4 senior golfers this year. Coach Shelton feels Colin has the potential to step into a key position for the team.
Colin is a three-sport athlete playing golf, baseball, and basketball all four years of high school at NCC. Colin has a 4.24 GPA and is ranked in the top 25% of his class academically. He has been recognized for Academic First Team All-State in golf, baseball, and basketball. Colin is a member of the National Honor Society.
In terms of his golf achievements, he was in the top five golfers on his varsity team since his freshman year. He participated in the All-A State golf tournament his freshmen, junior, and senior years. He led his golf team to a 14th place in State his junior year. It was the first time in the history of NCC a golf team qualified for the state tournament. Colin competed in the Northern KY 7up tour this past summer and qualified as a top 10 to compete in the tour championship. Colin shot a low of 67 twice this past season. His tournament average is a 75. As a senior, he led his golf team to winning the All-A region and placed 3rd in the All-A State tournament. Colin placed 5th individually at the All-A state tournament. The NCC golf team won their conference this year. Colin qualified to play in the 2012 KHSAA state tournament and placed 42nd out of 200 golfers in the state. He was nominated as the KJGF Senior All-Star representing the 8th region. Lastly, he was named Region 8 Golfer of the Year.
The official signing will occur on Monday, January 28 at 11:00 A.M. in the NCC cafeteria.
